ADULT ORTHODONTICS
Improve your smile with the most appropriate treatment
Smile and Care dental clinics offer different solutions to improve the aesthetics of your smile and teeth: orthodontics (changing dental positioning), tooth whitening (lightening teeth’s existing shade), composite or ceramic veneers (modification of dental hue and shape).
ORTHODONTICS: FOR ADULTS TOO!
Well-aligned teeth make it easier to speak, chew, and breathe. Thanks to orthodontics, teeth can be repositioned, and jaw structure can sometimes even be modified to achieve perfectly aligned teeth.
Practiced by Smile and Care’s certified orthodontists, this branch of dentistry offers highly satisfactory results.
Teeth can be repositioned at any age: orthodontic work is entirely possible – even after adolescence. The treatment, however, requires the perfect health of the tissues surrounding the teeth, such as the gums and bones, as applying the dental device can aggravate certain pathologies.
Using a suitable dental device enables:
- Limiting wear and tear on certain teeth that may be over-stressed due to teeth being misaligned, and
- Simpler and more effective brushing; better-positioned teeth mean limiting the risk of oral disease.
Working in synergy with Smile and Care’s dentists, the orthodontist offers the patient a personalised treatment plan, along with an exact estimate.
The orthodontist has various treatment options to choose from:
1. Braces: a precise and effective technique
Braces allow the teeth to be tightened, spread, or moved forward or backwards. Highly precise and effective, this technique requires excellent oral hygiene. Brushing teeth after every meal is a must to eliminate food residue and to prevent cavities or bleeding gums. The braces can be made of metal or ceramic materials. Ceramic braces mimic the colour of teeth, are transparent, and less visible.
2. Invisalign: the transparent and invisible dental device
Invisalign is an invisible orthodontic technique enabling teeth to be realigned without resorting to a more visible treatment, such as braces.
An impression is made of the teeth to be realigned first. Using innovative techniques, a digital model of the teeth is then created, along with a visual projection of what the teeth will look like at the end of the treatment.
Aligners are made according to each stage of the treatment. The aligners are removable, transparent trays that are custom-designed to ensure a perfect fit to the patient’s teeth. The patient changes the aligners every two weeks, thereby moving from one stage of treatment to the next.
Thus, the aligners are evolutionary and enable the gradual realignment of teeth, while targeting the misaligned teeth one after the other.
